Agency: DEPT OF THE ARMY (2100) • Product Service Code (PSC) : 6640 | Last Modified: 09/18/2024
Procurement Summary
The Government requires one (1) GO2 EDU U1 Standard Package, additional battery, and Dual-Arm AI Teleoperation Kit that are not produced or manufactured in the United States in sufficient and reasonably available commercial quantities and of a satisfactory quality to meet mission requirements. Domestic offers were insufficient to meet the requirement, and award will be made on other than a qualifying country or eligible end product as defined in FAR 25.001. The articles, materials, or supplies are not contained in the list of end products or components listed in FAR 25.104(a), and do not meet the requirements in DFARS 225.103(b) (iii). The GO2 EDU U1 Standard Package and additional battery weights about 15 15kg, includes an over-the-air update/programming, handheld remote control and fast charger, includes a built-in voice recognition module, and an optional Dual-Arm AI Teleoperation Kit. The GO2 Edu is also equipped with very different movement capabilities than other available robots, including moon step/space step, sidestep, cross step, upward jump, forward jump, front flip, handshake, pouncing, sitting down, stretching, bowing and many kinds of creative dances. All these capabilities make the GO2 Edu U1 Robot highly applicable and effective for ARL research.
Waiver Rationale Summary
The United States (U.S.) Army Research Laboratory (ARL) requires a Unitree GO2 Edu-U1 Robot Standard Package and additional battery to support ARL's Human Guided System Adaptation Branch research, learn and evaluate how human operators train robotic systems using human feedback. ARL currently uses Robotics Operating System (ROS) software to develop experimental software. The Unitree GO2 Edu-U1 Robot is the only robot we have found that meets the movement and voice recognition requirements for our current and future research purposes. Additionally, the GO2 Edu Robot has shock absorbers, which enable it to handle rough terrain while maintaining power and stability, while maneuvering through tall obstacles. These required/essential features help prevent early wear and tear on the GO2 Edu Robot.
